Vampires Have Come to the Daylight

Ian Somerhalder, Damon, of Vampire Diaries

Vampires of the “Twilight” saga has been tamed, domesticated, ripped of Neptunian fog and transformed to the phase of Libra, as full members of the community (they’re polite, neat and attend to school activities). They assimilate quite well yet they still are surrounded by a mystery. I must admit it’s peculiar that it doesn’t raise suspicion among the students when it comes to the true essence of their predatory nature.

Virtually all the vampires can be attributed to the archetypal Scorpios.

Their natural habitat is darkness. They are the result of a transformation of the human being, crossing death and changing into something entirely different. They don’t belong to the realm of the living, and death is the domain of Pluto.

It is also impossible to deny their sexual magnetism.

Deceitfully, or now quite openly – in the daylight, they charm and seduce their victims in order to tie them for eternity. Such strong relationships, full of bursting eroticism, is again an area of Pluto.

The characters of the TV series “Vampire Diaries” are like this.

One is Damon Salvatore played by Ian Somerhalder. His character definitely arouses emotions.

Actors often present on the screen some features of their personality, venting them onto characters they’re playing.

Damon is endowed with charm, charisma and great ruthlessness, as well as wackiness.

His waspish sense of humor and ripostes disarm directly. Actually, it is difficult to imagine this character played by anyone else.

The actor has the element of fire strongly emphasized in the horoscope. He is determined and willing to make quick decisions and initiate new activities. You cannot refuse Damon’s clout.

Sun conjunct Neptune gives great imagination, artistry and the ability to create your own image.

Neptune in conjunction with the Sun is also the ability to deceive the environment and to hide the inner nature.

Damon skillfully promotes himself in the show as a very useful citizen of the town of Mystic Falls. Few characters are aware that he’s really a dangerous predator.

Damon getting a drink at a barSince Neptune, as ruler of Pisces, can also attract all kinds of pleasures associated with stimulants (including alcohol), as befits the typical “bad boy,” he often drowns his sorrows in various drinks. Neptune’s domain is seduction and delusion. Damon, during the series, cherishes his unhappy love which is in fact nothing more than a dream.

The actor has Venus in Scorpio in a rather loose conjunction with Uranus. Uranus in conjunction with Venus gives great magnetism, but also short-termed and quite unpredictable relationships. Damon has a number of relations, but they all end soon.

Venus in Scorpio gives intensity and magnetism. It is also hidden, obsessive desire and transforming love. While Damon has illusions about Katherine, at the end of his relationship with her (and his transformation into a vampire),it is now in the realm of Venus in Scorpio.

Such a Venus is also a dark, dangerous side of love, forbidden apple. It’s hard to say whether Damon actually feels some affection for Elena, Katharine’s alter ego, or if it is just an unattainable desire and craving to take up the challenge. Venus in Scorpio likes intrigue and strong sensation.

Since Venus is also the appearance and taste, just look what Damon wears. Blackness rules.

In one interview Ian Somerhalder admitted that he’s always wanted to play a vampire. He even auditioned for “True Blood” but he didn’t succeed.

But he’s succeeded quite well on “Vampire Diaries”.

All the vampires in “Vampire Diaries” have the typical Scorpio trait – of course, this feature is highly exaggerated. They hypnotize their victims with their eyes, and thus manipulate them, forcing to perform various tasks, which they knowingly or voluntarily would not have done.

If you’ve ever seen a Scorpio staring at you with these piercing eyes you know what I’m talking about.

Manipulation and having well in hand is also the symbolism of Pluto.

The main protagonist (Elena) is not a typical sacrificial Pisces, she doesn’t submit herself to the snares of those dark creatures.

Straightforward, honest and decisive, she’s more suited to the border of Pisces and Aries.

Damon has a great sense of humor and doesn’t take himself too seriously. It is thanks to Mercury in loose conjunction with the Sun (or thanks to the screenwriters ). Mercury also provides a penchant for short trips. Damon doesn’t like to hang in, short trips around the area are form of entertainment and an opportunity to make new contacts. Mercury also gives the cut wit and eloquence.

Venus conjunct Uranus is also a predilection for living on the edge.

Damon often provokes quite dangerous situations and seems to derive pleasure from experiencing some trouble, even life-threatening.

Sun in sextile to Pluto gives a high capacity for regeneration and inner strength. Damon cries a little over spilled milk (or blood), but he’ll flood worries in a glass of whiskey (or the whole bottle – a powerful Neptune), and soon returns to himself.

  • Vampires are all the rages right now. The book, to movies and now TV shows. It seems that the public is quite fascinated with these beings. I have to agree that the zodiacs has to do something with their popularity. It’s the only logical explanation there is.

what ascendant do you think Ian has ??
    I’m just curious

I don’t know. I haven’t seen Vampire Diaries enough to make a good guess. I did watch him on the first season of LOST but he was on it only for a short time. He has pretty amazing eyes which make me think of a Neptune influence – and he has Sun conjunct Neptune. Maybe I can catch Vampire Diaries on TV and venture a better guess.

I am so hooked with Vampire diaires right now, esp with Ian. I never thought pluto and sun aspect can produce a power of regeneration. i thought its jupiter in scorpio. my pluto and sun is square, what does this mean?

    • i thought its jupiter in scorpio. my pluto and sun is square, what does this mean?
It’s hard to say without seeing your whole chart. You really do have to look at the chart as a whole. Jupiter in Scorpio all by itself wouldn’t be big influence unless it’s conjunct an angle, the ruler of your ascendant, the dispositor of your Sun, or something like that.

my gad this is so late reply… i wonder why i miss this thread..  “Jupiter in Scorpio all by itself wouldn’t be big influence unless it’s conjunct an angle, the ruler of your ascendant, the dispositor of your Sun, or something like that. ” well my jupiter is conjunct pluto.. and also conjunct mars.. hows that sound.. and my pluto is quarin sun.

        • One potential is that the energy of Pluto, Mars or the Sun can get blown out of proportion. You can also read the posts, Jupiter/Pluto Aspects, Jupiter/Mars Aspects or Sun/Jupiter Aspects (which I think you have already, and which were written after this post).

  • Moonchild

I thought Anne Rice made vampires popular years ago……

    • I think she made them popular, but she didn’t make them mainstream explosion popular. I don’t think Cruise and Pitt became ‘tween heart throbs after Interview With a Vampire- am I wrong?

      • Moonchild

Her book series was vastly popular and I think they romanticized the notion of vampires. I do agree with you about Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt, they were hardly “sexy” vampires. The movie did no justice to the book series….

        • Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt, they were hardly “sexy” vampires

Thank you for reading Moonchild. Are you a fan of TrueBlood?

  • Vampire fascination has taken over! It seems to be a phenomenon that has been going on for the last few years, and its intensity has not backed down! Pluto in capricorn is all about control, and maintaining control. But sometimes that control can turn violent! Really interesting comments! check out my new astrology blog with some interesting info on signs

  • Plutonian Persona

My theory: the Pluto in Scorpio generation coming of age and putting their mark onto popular culture.

Just as a little extra info, I was looking at Stephenie Meyer’s chart and WOW! She is a Plutonian if there ever was one: Sun square Pluto, Venus trine Pluto, Jupiter trine Pluto, Saturn square Pluto, and the generational Neptune sextile Pluto.

Gotta love those Plutonians! Happy Halloween! Blessed Samhain!

    • the Pluto in Scorpio generation coming of age and putting their mark onto popular culture.
The Pluto in Scorpio generation seems to be making all things that were once taboo quite normal. Props to them! 😀

  • Mandi Astroair

Great article, thanks 😀 Vampire shows and movies are my guilty pleasure!
Yeah, I agree with the other comments, it’s got to be Pluto in Capricorn….especially as the modern vampire is all about controlling their instincts and trying to pass themselves off as ‘respectable’ citizens. Vampire Diaries, True Blood and Twilight all have this same theme.

    • trying to pass themselves off as ‘respectable’ citizens

I wonder about Neptune’s transit through Aquarius and Uranus’s transit through Pisces as contributions. It seems that the barrier to all things strange, weird and different has become permeable.

      • Anonymous

        i agree with this.

    • billow

“tryint to pass themselves off as respectable citizens” . . . Sounds like an ex employer of mine in the corporate structure. Tee hee

  • I think Pluto in Capricorn has everything to do with the current popularity of vampires. Besides the obvious Scorpio/Pluto qualities that vampires embody, there’s the Capricorn dark side of obtaining what they want at any price; devoid of feeling. (No offense to any Capricorns)

What’s interesting to me is that when Pluto went through Sag, there was a lot of pop culture interest in extraterrestrials. Wonder what Pluto in Aquarius will bring…

    • when Pluto went through Sag, there was a lot of pop culture interest in extraterrestrials
That’s an interesting point. There still is interest in extraterrestrials, but the interest seems to be more legitimized- for example the people who are actually looking for alien artifacts, or contemplating a realistic alien ancestry (the Ancient Aliens series on the History Channel is an example):

      • Yes… legitimize. Most of the current portrayals of vamps show them in a more mainstream way…coping with relationships, feelings and struggling with their nature in order to have a less isolated life. This is so different than say, the old Bela Lugosi films.

Shows like the X-files legitimized extraterrestrials in the same way that True Blood, Twilight, Vampire Diaries do for vampires.

        • I think X-files legitimized the interest in extraterrestrials. “We are not alone” could just as well refer to the collection of people who actually believe in the existence of aliens as to the aliens’ actual existence.
