The Solar Eclipse in Capricorn is tonight at 11:11 pm PST. If you have natal planets around 25 degrees of any sign, but especially the cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn), then this Eclipse will affect you.
The continued emphasis on Capricorn supports ambition, hard work, practicality, and taking the initiative in business. The New Moon is a time to set intentions for the coming month- to start something new. Jan Spiller wrote an excellent book on the New Moon and how it relates to setting intentions and making wishes. Her book is called New Moon Astrology: The Secret of Astrological Timing to Make All Your Dreams Come True. Considering that this Eclipse occurs at 11:11, there is even a greater reason to take the time to write out a wish list.
The best results will unfold from making the wishes heartfelt and having the gist of the wish in line with Capricorn:
- worldly accomplishment
- social standing
- relationship with parents
- the elderly
- paternal relationships
Personally, I get a T-square: Sun and Moon in Capricorn (House 5), squaring Mercury at 26 Aries 48’ (House 8) and opposing Saturn at 26 Cancer 10’ (House 11). Because these planets are all cardinal I will have to take the initiative in resolving conflicts among hobbies and interests (House 5), close partnerships (House 8), and groups (House 11) with which I am involved.
However, it may not be that bad because my natal Saturn in Cancer will be in mutual reception with the Moon in Capricorn and the Solar Eclipse Sun falls in my 5th house – the Sun’s natural house. This means that there’s a natural relationship between the groups I am involved in and the personal interests that I’m pursuing. I just have to continue to recognize the needs of the group while I pursue my own interests. With the earthy Capricorn stellium involving the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Pluto, and North Node entirely in my 5th house, the emphasis is on getting ambitious with hobbies/interest, taking interests seriously, working hard on 5th house matters, and getting serious about romance.
It’s a weird thing to have Capricorn, one of the least ‘fun’ signs, on the cusp of the house of ‘fun’. Capricorn on the 5th implies that fun and pleasure take a backseat to practical matters. Capricorn on the 5th house also signifies someone who derives a great deal of pleasure from taking hobbies, interests, and romance seriously. Capricorn 5th house people actually get more pleasure from serious pursuits than from trivial pursuits.
